A cake inspired by Germany’s heavily forested Southwestern region and bearing the same name, Black Forest is distinctly known for its dark chocolate cake base that’s studded with drunken cherries and showered upon with chocolate shavings.
Cherries are quite an iconic stone fruit in Germany. It is known that one of the customs of newlyweds is to plant a cherry tree in order to cement their love for each other and cultivating it so it will grow. This adds a slightly romantic touch to the Black Forest cake, don’t you think?
