We Join Hands with a Local Hawker Stall for Our National Day Flavour

In celebration of Singapore’s 55th National Day, we decided to do something special this year and pay homage to our local crafters for Creamier’s National Day flavour.

With our home base at Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, we frequent the Toa Payoh West Market & Food Centre located at Blk 127 Lor 1, satiating our ban mian or nasi lemak cravings. We never head back to the office without a carrier filled with stacks of beancurd pudding and soya milk from our favourite stall, Pure Soya Bean.

Hence, it was only fitting that for our National Day flavour this year, we joined hands with Pure Soya Bean for our newest flavour, Tau Huay, or beancurd.

Apart from using the freshest soya milk from Pure Soya Bean, which by the way is organic and GMO-free, we pushed the envelope further and added fresh beancurd and the soya bean pulp (or the zha) to enhance the delicate soya bean flavour in our ice cream. And hey, it’s zero-waste, too!

Starting Thursday, 30 July 2020, you can experience our Tau Huay ice cream at all three Creamier outlets. Plus, we also created our own inspired take on the well-loved Michael Jackson beverage: our Yin Yang Jelly Drink, which is made with refreshing grass jelly and a generous scoop of our creamy Tau Huay ice cream.

Desheng Chen, the owner of Pure Soya Bean, keeps a light air around him. No one can deny his jolliness and happy disposition despite a hard day’s work. So we couldn’t help but be curious about his day-to-day life, and how he manages to keep a pleasant spirit despite tough days.

“Every morning, we start at 5:00 a.m., setting up the shop and grinding our pre-soaked organic and GMO-free soya beans that we prepare and cook with utmost care using our tried-and-tested methods and recipe. Operations start at 7:00 a.m. daily, and we start serving our wonderful customers, regulars, and friends throughout the day until 2:00 p.m.,” Desheng shares.

“I’ve loved soya milk and beancurd ever since I was a kid. Right now that I running my own business, selling these treats that are close to my heart, doing and facing something I love every single day doesn’t make me feel bored at all. I welcome the challenges knowing at the end of the day, I am able to drink soya milk and have beancurd every day, while doing business at the same time. It’s these simple pleasures that are part of the reward. It’s also very fulfilling whenever a first-time customer who patronises us compliments our soya milk and beancurd. It makes us really happy!”

“Lunch time is my favourite time of the day,” Desheng tells us. “It’s a time when I see my regulars, my friends, and meet new customers. I also love to eat, so I usually order the carrot cake at Chey Sua or the Hokkien Mee at Tian Tian Lai. Of course, I need to have it with my thick, cold soya milk.

“After a long, hard day at work, I look forward to coming home for dinner with my loved ones. What makes me happy is enjoying a simple home-cooked meal that’s prepared with love. I am an easily contented person, which is probably why I keep a positive outlook on life.”

There’s no doubt that Desheng is an inspiration to us when it comes to working hard and savouring the simple things in life. Our philosophy at Creamier is all about remembering the little moments that leave a remarkable impression, whether it’s greeting our regulars, coming home to a home-cooked meal after a long day, or even just the simple joy of tucking into a delicious scoop of handcrafted ice cream.

From all of us at Creamier, Happy National Day!
