*ARCHIVED**
Last month, we celebrated Creamier's 7th anniversary by inviting 7 familiar faces to talk about their moments of happiness, their passions, and of course, their favourite Creamier ice cream flavours. As we prepare for the holidays, we thought we'd give you a summary of our 7 friends who shared their stories and journeys with us. Read on below!
1. Tia Boon Sim, Founder of Urban Sketchers Singapore
Tia Boon Sim is the founder of Urban Sketchers Singapore (USKSG), an affiliate to global non-profit organization, Urban Sketchers, which was founded to share the artistic, storytelling, and educational value of location-based drawing. Since its inception in 2009, participants with various qualifications and skills have met on a regular basis to go on “sketchwalks”. Over the years, the group has garnered the support of like-minded Singaporeans and foreigners alike, making Urban Sketchers one of the most active groups in the world. Tia talks about living in the heartlands, specifically Toa Payoh, where our first Creamier shop was erected, and how it has become an important baseline for her art. Read her story here.
2. Charmaine See, Senior Crew Leader at Creamier Toa Payoh
You may remember this friendly face from our Toa Payoh shop. Charmaine See has been a huge part of the Creamier family for four years now as a Senior Crew Leader. She is in charge of ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations, while monitoring crew work and quality. A huge part of her role is also going the extra mile to bring forward the best service to Creamier’s customers. Read more about some of her happiest moments at work and in life here.
3. Ming Tan, Co-Founder of Park Bench Deli
From cooking with friends over the weekend, to selling his sandwiches at pop-up events and at the back of food trucks, Ming Tan now runs Park Bench Deli at Telok Ayer Street. Ham and Cheese, Philly Cheesesteak, and Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches might be his forte, but Ming Tan also has a knack for sweets and desserts. Fun fact: we collaborated with him two years ago to create a special sorbet to celebrate our fifth anniversary. Read more about the food he loves and his creative process in the kitchen here.
4. Eugene Wee, Head BARISTA of Creamier Handcrafted
When we think about coffee in Creamier, we think about Eugene. Having been in the company for around seven years, Eugene started out as a part-timer, and eventually transitioned into his role today as Head Barista and Operations Executive, with his main focus on the beverage component of the business. For the past few months, Eugene was based in Shanghai for our Sunday Folks pop-up; now that he’s back, we sit down with him and have a chat about his work, and how coffee has played a huge part in his life. Read Eugene's story here.
5. Arisa Matsuo, Writer and Editor for Mangosteen Club
Originally from Osaka, Japan, Arisa Matsuo recently moved to Singapore a year and a half ago to take up a post as writer and editor for Mangosteen Club, a Japanese magazine based in Singapore. She loves dogs, local food, exploring Singapore, chocolate, and ice cream. Arisa has been one of Creamier’s biggest media supporters, writing about our ice creams and offerings and sharing her love for handcrafted treats to the Japanese community here in the Lion City. Read about her move from Osaka to Singapore, and her passion for sharing her experiences to the Japanese and to the rest of the world here.
6. Leon Foo, Founder of Papa Palheta Coffee Roasters and Chye Seng Huat Hardware
Leon Foo runs Chye Seng Huat Hardware (CSHH) and Papa Palheta, an independent coffee boutique that specialises in roasting and purveying specialty coffee in Singapore and in Malaysia. Leon believes that with the right knowledge, skills, and discipline, coffee roasters can make a difference in the community. He tells us why good ethics is central to making great coffee and how he best enjoys his favourite Creamier ice cream. We serve their coffees at all Creamier shops and at Sunday Folks as well. Read about his story here.
7. Wi Hui Yee, Commissary Cook at Creamier
Hui Yee is a gem of a person whose love for desserts really shines through her craft. Having been part of the Creamier team for two and a half years now, Hui Yee is responsible for ensuring that not only all Creamier shops have enough supply of ice cream, but also waffle mixes and other condiments needed for our other products are available. It’s a tough job, but she seems to glide through it with so much grace and good leadership when it comes to both kitchen management and production. We sit down with Hui Yee and have a chat with her about life and her love for dessert—with some ice cream, of course! Read about Hui Yee's moments of happiness here.
